Running more aggressive cams will raise the RPM that the torque peaks at, which will raise the HP even if the torque stays the same. You can have 300 lbs of torque at 5252 rpm, which will give you 300 hp, or you can have the same 300 lbs of torque at 10,504 rpm, which will give you 600 hp. I used nice round figures to make it easier to understand.
